Hi there, my name is Tom Garden (from Dunedin, New Zealand) and welcome to a page showcasing some of my digital illustrations.
I graduated with a bachelor of Visual Arts from the Dunedin Artschool in 2010. I am fascinated with concept design, and what makes a successful, attractive design within characters, clothes fashion, vehicle design and interior design. Being an illustrator is a great way for me to express some of my ideas. Because of this interest, I am working on becoming a concept design artist for a wide range of visual mediums, like comic books, video games, films and animation.
Many of these works were made for the Otago University magazine; The Critic, plus a lot are concept designs for my upcoming sci fi comic; System Earth. My style is quite apparent when scrolling through these illustrations, though I am confident with a wide range of design styles and hopefully, when I can get a chance, I can create some works ranging from realism to abstract toons and get them up on this page.
This page will be also used as backup – Internet storage. (just in case my computer blows up etc.)
Here’s a poster I made for our textiles exhibition involving textiles students @ Dunedin School of Art Gallery.
Here’s a cropped image of a digital print made for an exhibition at the Blue Oyster in Dunedin (2011)

In 2010 I was the Feature Illustrator for the Otago University Magazine; The Critic. Here’s some of my work for that. I also won Best illustrator at the Student Media Awards.
An Artical detailing the awards The Critic won (including my award!) can be seen here. Give it a read:
